Puppies and Rain

February 10, 2010

First off, it rained in delhi again!!! And all the smells, of wet mitti, of wet dust on leaves, of crushed wet grass, the feel of cold air: it tastes so clean! I love the rain! Even if it brought back the chill… :)

Anyway,

Coming back from college a few days ago, i came across a litter of puppies and also blogged about the tiny critters. They were all chubby, healthy pups, running around, play wrestling, grabbing at kind peoples mufflers (mine! :P).

Yesterday, i was walking back along the same road, and i noticed that one of them was trying to climb back onto the sidewalk, from the road. I took a closer look and realised that she couldn’t support herself on her back legs; one appeared to be broken.

I thought it was distemper. We took it to the vet, where it turned out that the the pup had a fractured leg, and the bone was setting in a wrong position. Thats why she couldn’t walk. The vet gave her a light bandage cast and a painkiller (injection).

The vet we took her to was at Friendicoes SECA. The entire treatment cost Rs. 100.

If you ever see a dog, or a cat (bird, monkey, squirrel, donkey, horse, cow etc) hurt on the road, and you want to help, all you have to do is give a call and they will send an ambulance. If you can, do come by yourself to drop the animal off.

Ph: 011-24320707 or

011-24314787

Here’s how you can get there!

(If they can’t help directly with the animal, they’ll give you a number where you can get help.)

Also, they are a welfare organisation, and do need donations, so help out if you can!

They’re doing a fantastic job helping animals who need care and attention.

You could also volunteer at the shelter. The puppies there need love and affection!
